10 Tips to Find the Perfect Villa

The perfect Villa is nearer than you think!

Thousands stay in villas for vacations and on business trips every year. The headache of finding the right one can sometimes put you off the search. It can be so much easier to have an agent find one for you, right? Well this depends on your propensity to find one that you like and not one that the agent wants to sell to you. Remember agents are paid on commission and the more they can sell the more they can earn so finding you the perfect villa isn’t necessarily their number one goal. So here is what to do.

  1. Avoid fraud. Ensure that you always check out the owner. Look for a footprint on the internet and always read their reviews. Check how long they’ve been advertising the property. Do they really own it? If they have a website do a ‘Whois’ search on Google to see who is behind the domain name.
  2. Check out the house-maid arrangements. Does it get cleaned while you’re there and when is the linen changed?
  3. Check out it’s exact location. How far is it from the amenities. No use wanting a ‘Micky castle’ when Minnie is living somewhere 200 miles away!
  4. Always check that appropriate safety concerns have been addressed by the owner. Especially where the children are concerned. Is there an alarm on the pool? Are there child gates supplied? What about gas and electrical safety. Remember some properties are not insured for public liability and you need to know where you stand.
  5. ‘Google’ the location and look for how close your perfect Villa is to major roads and surrounding disturbances. Use Google maps and street view. You don’t want rowdy people pouring from a bar or sirens blaring every night, right?!!
  6. You might want a villa near the beach? Not everyone wants inland villas so check out what facilities the villa comes with. Beach towels supplied?
  7. What about the necessity to hire a car? This can bump up your required budget and so you need to know what is around and can the owner make suggestions to save you cost?
  8. Pay with a credit card. You can then recharge should there be ‘difficulties’ at the villa. The vast majority of Villas don’t have any issues but it’s good to take precautions, right?
  9. If you’re going to book your perfect Villa with an agent make sure they’re affiliated or bonded to travel associations. This indicates they care about customer service and you’ll be covered in the event of a mishap.
